Bright New Data Protection And Cyber Security Joint Venture From Two Inspiring South West Businesses

We’ve joined forces with a leading South West law firm to create a joint venture offering cyber security and data protection services.

nuBright sees Bluegrass Group and Stephens Scown LLP working together to offer legal and technical solutions.

“This is a first for the region,” says Robert Camp, Stephens Scown’s managing partner who is spear-heading the new joint venture. “Compliance, data protection, risk and IT are top of any Board’s agenda. With such a fast-moving IT and regulatory landscape, it is crucial that businesses advance their technology and systems to deliver increased business security and improved efficiency. Combining Stephen Scown’s legal expertise with the technical prowess of Bluegrass, nuBright will deliver a range of services to help businesses meet the challenge and provide peace of mind.”

David Thomas, Bluegrass’ managing director, adds: “It’s not practical nor strategically advantageous for businesses to treat technology and law in isolation when it comes to data protection and cyber security. We’re excited to be pooling our skills with those of Stephens Scown to offer businesses a much-needed integrated approach.”

The initial services being offered by nuBright include online GDPR training, data breach response and cyber threat protection. The video-based GDPR training costs only £7 per person and will help businesses to raise awareness of the GDPR among staff.

Robert Camp explains: “With potential fines of £18 million or 4% of turnover, whichever is the higher, for breaching the GDPR, the stakes for getting it wrong are high. Human error is one of the most common causes of data breaches, in fact, the Information Commissioner’s Office estimates that over 85% of breaches are caused by it. nuBright’s online GDPR training will raise awareness of data protection across an organisation, helping it to safeguard against violations, fines and reputational damage.”
