Employees at Exeter’s local IT Support company Bluegrass Group have set a challenge to walk or run 1000 miles throughout February 2021 to raise money for a local community project.
Feed Our Community is a project run by inspirational Exeter woman, Maia Thomas who started this project just three weeks ago to support those struggling financially due to Covid-19 and she has already delivered over 1200 food packages to families across Devon in need.
Inspired by a post she saw on a local community page from a woman who was struggling, Maia quickly responded to help and soon requests starting coming in from more and more families also in need. Within just weeks the project has gained huge momentum, raising over £6000. The overall aim is to raise £10,000 in order for Maia to have her own food unit, so she can help even more families in need across our local community.
The staff at Bluegrass Group saw the incredible work Maia was doing and couldn’t wait to get involved to help raise even more money, faster, whilst also supporting their own mental health.
#TeamBluegrass have set a challenge to walk or run 1000 miles across 28 days in February between 20 members of staff.
Group Managing Director, David Thomas comments ‘We have been thinking of ways to support our employees wellbeing during this third lockdown; things like talking to each other for support, encouraging them to take walks, getting outside for some fresh air during their lunch breaks and generally keeping active. As soon as we saw the local Feed Our Community Project, we knew this was our perfect opportunity to not only support their wellbeing with a team goal, but also to raise some money for such a fantastic Exeter based community project. We all have a real passion for the community across Devon, so I know #TeamBluegrass will work hard to smash this target and raise as much as they can.’
Bluegrass Group have set up a Just Giving page where you can donate as little or as much as you can to help support this amazing local cause.
